The design process in 4 clear steps
Designing furniture is a process that requires time and a good collaboration. Together we will make the right choices to create the furniture you need. We divided the process up into 4 steps:
Step 1:
The first step in creating custom furniture is to schedule a consultation with a furniture designer. During the consultation, the designer will discuss your requirements, preferences and budget to get an idea of what you’re looking for in a custom piece.
Estimated time: 1 to 2 weeks
Step 2:
After the consultation, our lead designer, will work on creating a design that meets your needs and specifications. This may involve creating 2D sketches to give you a clear idea of what the final custom furniture piece will look like. After this process you will have the option to provide feedback and let the design be revised.
Estimated time: 1 to 2 weeks
Step 3:
The most promising design will be made into a 3D CAD model, visualized with the chosen materials. This gives you a clear view of how the sofa will look like in the real world. Of course you have the option to give feedback and revise.
Estimated time: 1 to 2 weeks
Step 4:
The final step in creating custom furniture is making a prototype. The designer will work with skilled craftsmen to build the piece according to the approved design and materials. This may take several weeks, depending on the complexity of the design and the availability of materials.
Estimated time: 6 to 8 weeks – This step is optional
Investment
The investment of the design process (step 1 to 3) is €4.950 ex VAT. However, this investment will be deducted from the first order price if the first order is 5 sofas or more.

How durable is the custom furniture of Addon Furniture?
We create furniture to last a lifetime. All our sofas and benches are made with the best in class materials. During production of our products we have several quality checks that we perform. We make sure that only the highest quality of sofas will be shipped out to our customers.
By performing these quality checks, best in class materials and craftmanship our products are very durable. If anything is wrong with the products we have a warranty program.
Our custom furniture has standard a 5 year warranty (just like all our products). Read more about the warranty and the terms on our warranty and quality page.
How sustainable are the products?
Sustainability is part of our DNA. We only work with suppliers from Europe to minimise transport and therefore impact on the environment. During the production phase we make sure we use sustainable wood, fabric and coating.
Shipping the products to you is also done in a way to minimise the impact on the environment. We make use of groupage logistics in Europe to prevent half-full trucks on the road. For customers outside Europe we use shipping in almost all cases. This is more sustainable than by air.
How long does production take?
The production normally takes around 6 to 8 weeks.
What does this design process cost?
€3.250 – this investment will be deducted if the MOQ of the custom sofas is 5 or more. If you order 1 to 5 sofas this investment will not be deducted. Want to know more? Great!
